The myths of self-protection and advertising:
How do you get most of your work? Is it through advertising of some sort? Or is it through your reputation?
Your reputation is your best advertising. Your reputation sells you, instead of you working at selling yourself. People seek you out based on your reputation.
You DO want to get your name in front of others, but you want the kind of customers who can appreciate what you offer, and your reputation is the best draw you have to attract the people you want.
There are those who expect to spend money on legal fees and settlements associated with disputes. They say this is part of the cost of business. Well, there is a whole different way to approach things.
I pose, instead, the firm belief that your reputation and your character are really what sell you once you have become at least somewhat established. The best way to become established is to deliver quality services along with successful communication and human relations.
I have known Stuart Baker for more than 20 years. He is an excellent supervisor, as well as an excellent diplomat. I have seen him in action. He has already done, many times, what he claims he can do for you. I would highly recommend him as a mediator, or as a coach in the skills of diplomacy.
